Immunizations

What vaccinations will my dog need?

Safety is our first priority. We want all of our furry guests to be protected and healthy throughout their stay with us. Proof of all immunizations must be provided before we approve your stay. All guests must be current on the following immunizations:

  • Bordetella (Kennel cough)
  • Parvovirus – Canine parvovirus (CPV) is a highly contagious viral disease of dogs that commonly causes acute gastrointestinal illness in puppies
  • Distemper – The canine distemper vaccine is included in a combination vaccine (sometimes abbreviated DAPP, DA2PP, or similarly)
  • Rabies

Does the Bordetella vaccine prevent my dog from getting a cough?

Even in the cleanest environments, dogs can contract other types of illnesses that cause coughing. This can happen simply from nose to nose contact with other dogs. Dog boarding/day care facilities are similar to human daycare facilities. Even though children are immunized, they may become ill from contact with others. It is no different for dogs. At YPB, we pride ourselves on having an extremely clean environment and we require all dogs have up to date vaccinations. Though we have these precautions in place, dogs can still get canine cough even if they are vaccinated. The Bordetella vaccine is similar to a human flu shot, it HELPS protect your dog from the virus. Just like the human flu, there are several strains of the Bordetella virus. If your dog develops a cough, it is best to contact your vet immediately.

What to bring

Should I bring anything for my dog?

You are welcome to bring anything that your dog needs to be comfortable. Otherwise, we will provide everything your dog needs to be comfortable while they are with us.

Bedding:  If you would like to bring bedding for your dog it is important to know that dogs often destroy bedding when in a new environment. We have cozy beds that we provide as an add-on if you choose not to bring bedding.

Toys: Your furry friend is welcome to bring any toys that make them feel at home. Their toys will be kept in their individual kennels and not allowed in play spaces.

Bowls: We provide bowls for your dog(s), so no need to bring them! If you have a slow feeder bowl you would like us to use, you are welcome to bring those.

Treats: We do not accept any rawhide or “safe” rawhide chews as they are a choking hazard. We do not accept raw bones. All bones must be cooked. All other treats are acceptable.

Food

Should I bring my own food?

If your dog is on a special diet or has a sensitive stomach, it is a good idea to provide us with the food they are used to. All food should be in baggies, portioned out per day, or a small container marked with your dog’s name and enough food for their stay. Suddenly switching food can cause a dog to have an upset stomach. However, we do provide Nutri Source™ dog food at an additional charge if you choose not to bring your own food. If you would like us to provide meals for your dog, you can select this option at checkout when booking online. DO NOT SELCT THIS OPTION IF YOU ARE PROVIDING FOOD FOR YOUR DOG(S).

Medications

What should I bring if my dog is on special medication?

We have no problem administering medication, however all medications need to be in the original container with the prescription label. Directions need to be clearly communicated in order to ensure your dog is getting what they need. There is a one time fee for administering medication that can be selected at checkout when booking online. Please note: we do not accept diabetic dogs and recommend boarding with a veterinarian if you dog is diabetic.

Late Pick Up/Day Camp Charge

What happens if I can’t pick up my dog during pick up hours after an overnight stay?

One night of boarding includes 24 hours of care. Pick up time is expected to be 24 hours from your drop off time. For example: if you drop off at 9:00 a.m. you are expected to pick up at 9:00 a.m. on your pick up date. However, if you want to pick up mid-day you will select “partial day camp charge” at check out. If  you want to pick up at the end of the day (4:45 p.m.), then you will select “full day camp charge” at check out.

Unless prior arrangements have been made, or there are extenuating circumstances and you do not pick up your dog by close of business; you will be unable to pick up your dog until the following day (excluding Sunday) and will be charged for boarding at the rate of $50/night.
